Couples Counselling

There are many reasons why the relationship with your 'significant other' that once recharged you may now leave you feeling drained or disappointed. I have particular interest and specialist training in, and experience of working with individuals and couples on sexual and relationship issues.

Common issues dealt with in couples' therapy include:

  • communication - do you often argue over petty things or the same unresolved important issues?
  • intimacy - do you wish you could be closer or more affectionate together?
  • jealousy - do you or your partner suffer from a lack of trust or intrusive jealous thoughts?
  • infidelity - have you or your partner been involved with someone else?
  • sex - have either of you experienced recent or continued sexual difficulties?
  • commitment - are either of you unsure about compatibility or whether you want to stay together?

Whether you call it 'having problems talking' or just 'going through a bad patch', in couples' therapy neither you nor your situation will be judged.

Instead, we'll explore the relationship from both perspectives, understand more about the issues and action improvements to communication, often by facilitating conversations that have become difficult to talk about or avoided altogether. In some instances, therapy is used to help the break-up process and ensure a healthy and respectful way of dealing with each other especially when children are involved.

Couples are welcome to attend either together or individually. Sometimes one person will attend to discuss the situation, with the other partner joining in the next or subsequent sessions.
