Sexual Difficulties

Most people want to avoid sexual problems and enhance their enjoyment of sex whatever their age, gender or sexual orientation.

Life and all its challenges can get in the way sometimes though and there can be many issues affecting our sex life and the way we feel about ourselves.

Recent data from the U.S. shows that difficulties with sex are prevalent: up to 52% of men and up to 63% of women have been affected. That's a great deal of ordinary people suffering embarrassment and distress around sex when they needn't.

Many people don't even realise that there's therapy available for issues involving sex. Others find it difficult or embarrassing sharing their sexual concerns or don't know what to expect from sex therapy. This is normal.

I can help with problems such as:

For women
  • having difficulties reaching orgasm
  • pain or discomfort during intercourse
  • low (or loss of) libido
  • contractions of the vaginal muscles which make intercourse impossible

    For men
  • problems controlling ejaculation or in reaching orgasm
  • not always being able to get or maintain an erection even when you'd like to.

Not all difficulties with sex are easily identifiable - maybe you don’t have the time or energy for regular sex and this has become the norm, or perhaps everything else in your relationship is great but you've noticed that avoiding sex has become part of your bedtime routine - sex therapy can help it all make sense and help you re-discover your sex life. Sex therapy is incredibly rewarding for people and they're usually amazed at the progress they make.

In sex therapy, I've seen hundreds of people just like you and there's nothing you can say that will shock me. I always try to put people at ease and help them feel more comfortable talking about their sex life so that together we can work out how to handle the problems you're having and find a way to move on from them.
